And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much. 30 You cannot thwart Him on the earth, and have no friend or helper apart from Him. 31 And of His signs are the ships that run on the sea like landmarks; 32 if He willed, He could bring the wind to a standstill and they would lie motionless on the surface of the sea, truly there are signs in this for anyone who is steadfast and grateful, 33 Or He may make them founder for what they have earned, and (even then) pardon most; 34 And those who dispute in respect of Our revelations may know that for them there is no place of shelter. 35 AND [remember that] whatever you are given [now] is but for the [passing] enjoyment of life in this world - whereas that which is with God is far better and more enduring. [It shall be given] to all who attain to faith and in their Sustainer place their trust; 36 And those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and when they are angry, they forgive, 37 And those who answer the call of their Lord and establish worship, and whose affairs are a matter of counsel, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them, 38 And those who take revenge when rebellion harms them. 39 But [remember that an attempt at] requiting evil may, too, become an evil: hence, whoever pardons [his foe] and makes peace, his reward rests with God - for, verily, He does not love evildoers. 40 And whoever defends himself after his being oppressed, these it is against whom there is no way (to blame). 41 The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment. 42 And whoever is patient and forgiving, these most surely are actions due to courage. 43
