The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 He looked (at others); 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
