Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden. 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
