Al-Aadeyaat
The Galloppers (Al-Aadeyaat)
11 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Afternoon (Al-'Asr) before Bounty (Al-Kawthar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the snorting runners (the horses), 1 Striking stones with their hooves, sparking fire. 2 Then those that make raids at morn, 3 And raise the dust in clouds the while, 4 Arriving thereby in the center collectively, 5 Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful. 6 And lo! he is a witness unto that; 7 And indeed he is ardent for the love of good (wealth, becoming greedy). 8 ۞ Is he not aware that when whatever lies (buried) in the graves is overthrown; 9 and that which is in the breasts is brought out -- 10 surely on that day their Lord shall be aware of them! 11
