The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and continuous shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
