The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
44 verses, revealed in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
One demanding, demanded the chastisement which must befall 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can avert, 2 (A Penalty) from Allah, Lord of the Ways of Ascent. 3 The angels and Jibreel, ascend towards Him the punishment will befall on a day which spans fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 They surely take it to be far away, 6 but We see it near at hand. 7 [It will take place] on a Day when the sky will be like molten lead, 8 and the mountains will become like tufts of wool, 9 And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, 10 as they are given sight of them. The sinner will wish that he might ransom himself from the chastisement of that day even by his sons, 11 And his wife and his brother, 12 and of all the kinsfolk who ever sheltered him, 13 And all those that are in the earth, (wishing) then (that) this might deliver him. 14 Never! That is indeed a blazing fire. 15 tearing away his skin! 16 and drag into it anyone who has turned away (from obeying God), 17 and amassed wealth and covetously hoarded it. 18 ۞ Indeed, mankind was created anxious: 19 when misfortune touches him he starts lamenting, 20 And niggardly when good reaches him;- 21 Save worshippers. 22 Those who remain steadfast to their prayer; 23 And in whose wealth there is a right acknowledged 24 For the beggar who asks, and for the unlucky who has lost his property and wealth, (and his means of living has been straitened); 25 And those who believe in the Day of Judgment, 26 And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord - 27 for none is secure from the punishment of their Lord, 28 And those who guard their private parts, 29 Except in the case of their wives or those whom their right hands possess-- for these surely are not to be blamed, 30 (but whoso seeks after more than that, they are the transgressors), 31 who honor their trust and promises, 32 And those who are upright in their testimonies, 33 And those who are attentive at their worship. 34 They will be honoured in the Gardens of Bliss. 35

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
