The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
