O children of Israel! Remember those blessings of Mine with which I graced you, and how I favoured you above all other people; 47 And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for another soul at all, nor will intercession be accepted from it, nor will compensation be taken from it, nor will they be aided. 48 And remember, We delivered you from the people of Pharaoh: They set you hard tasks and punishments, slaughtered your sons and let your women-folk live; therein was a tremendous trial from your Lord. 49 Remember the time when We parted the sea to make way for you and let you pass safely through it and then drowned Pharaoh's people before your very eyes. 50 We appointed for Moses forty nights, but in his absence you took the calf, thereby committing harm. 51 Then We forgave you after that so perhaps you would be grateful. 52 Remember, We gave Moses the Book and Discernment of falsehood and truth, that you may be guided. 53 and when Moses said to his nation: 'My nation, you have harmed yourselves by taking the calf (to worship). So turn in repentance to your Creator and slay yourselves. That will be best for you with your Creator.' And He shall accept you. He is the Receiver of Repentance, the Merciful. 54 And when you said “O Moosa! We will not believe you till we clearly see Allah”; so the thunder seized you while you were watching. 55 Then We raised you from your death, so that you might give thanks. 56 And We shaded you with clouds and sent down on you Al-Manna and the quails, (saying): "Eat of the good lawful things We have provided for you," (but they rebelled). And they did not wrong Us but they wronged themselves. 57 And recall what time We said: enter this town and eat plenteously therefrom as ye list, and enter the gate prostrating yourselves and say: forgiveness; We shall forgive you your trespasses, and anon We shall increase unto the well-doers. 58 But the harmdoers tampered with Our Words, different from that said to them, and We let loose on the harmdoers a scourge from heaven as a punishment for their debauchery. 59
