And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
