The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
