The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
