Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the dawn, 1 and the ten nights, 2 by the even and the odd, 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 Is there in that an oath for a mindful man? 5 Did you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) not see (thought) how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)? 6 Of Eram with lofty pillars (erected as signposts in the desert), 7 whose like has never been created in any other land. 8 And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? 9 And with Pharaoh of the tent pegs 10 They were tyrants in the land 11 and exceeded in corruption therein. 12 Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment. 13 Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him, and honours him, and blesses him, then he says, 'My Lord has honoured me.' 15 But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'My Lord has humiliated me' 16 Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan 17 And urge not on the feeding of AlMiskin (the poor)! 18 and greedily devour the entire inheritance, 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 No indeed! When the earth is crushed and ground to dust, 21 And thy Lord shall come and the angels, rank on rank. 22 And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him? 23 He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" 24 For, that Day, His Chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict, 25 And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind. 26 O soul that art at rest! 27 Return unto thine Lord well pleased and well-pleasing. 28 And enter among My [righteous] servants 29 And enter My Paradise." 30
