Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 29 Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?" 30 Say thou: "Wait, [then,] hopefully; behold, I, too, shall hopefully wait with you!" 31 Enjoin them their understandings to this? or are they a people conumacious? 32 Or say they: He hath invented it? Nay, but they will not believe! 33 But then, [if they deem it the work of a mere mortal,] let them produce another discourse like it - if what they say be true! 34 Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay! they have no certainty. 36 Or are thy Lord's treasuries in their keeping? Or are they the registrars? 37 Or have they a stairway (to heaven), by means of which they listen (to the talks of the angels)? Then let their listener produce some manifest proof. 38 Hath He daughters and ye sons? 39 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 40 Or is it that they have access to (the Truths in) the realm beyond sense-perception which they are writing down? 41 Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot. 42 Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him) 43 Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 Leave them then till they meet that day of theirs wherein they shall be made to swoon (with terror): 45 the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour. 46 And verily for those who do wrong there is a torment before that; but most of them know not. 47 Await the judgement of your Lord, for you are always before Our eyes, and glorify your Lord with praises when you rise, 48 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. 49

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
