In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 Lo! thou hast by day a chain of business. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 Whereby heaven shall be split, and its promise shall be performed. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
