He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And whereas he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 In honored books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and purified. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
