The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sun and his morning brightness 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 and by the day when it displays him 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 And inspired in it the knowledge of its sins and its piety. 8 To a happy state shall indeed attain he who causes this [self] to grow in purity, 9 and he who corrupts it is sure to fail. 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
