The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
