He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 In honored books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
