The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the breath of morning 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
