AND [remember, O Prophet, the day] when thou didst set out from thy home at early morn to place the believers in battle array. And God was all-hearing, all-knowing 121 when two parties of you were about to lose heart, though God was their Protector -- and in God let the believers put all their trust -- 122 and God most surely helped you at Badr, when you were utterly abject. So fear God, and haply you Will be thankful. 123 When you said to the believers: 'Is it not enough for you that your Lord should reinforce you with three thousand angels sent down upon you? 124 Yes, if you remain patient and conscious of Allah and the enemy come upon you [attacking] in rage, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels having marks [of distinction] 125 The sending of the angels is a glad news from your Lord so that you would have more confidence in Him. No victory is real unless it is from God, the Majestic and All-wise. 126 So He may cut off a part of the disbelievers, or disgrace them so that they return unsuccessful. 127 This matter is not for you to decide – whether He guides them to repent or punishes them, for they are the unjust. 128 And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. 129
