Therefore continue to remind, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer, or a madman. 29 Or say they: (he is) a poet, (one) for whom we may expect the accident of time? 30 Say (unto them): Except (your fill)! Lo! I am with you among the expectant. 31 Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people? 32 Or do they say: "He himself has composed this [message]"? Nay, but they are not willing to believe! 33 But then, [if they deem it the work of a mere mortal,] let them produce another discourse like it - if what they say be true! 34 Have they not been created by aught, or are they the creators? 35 Or is it they who created the heavens and the earth? No; the truth is that they lack sure faith. 36 Or do they have your Lord's treasures in their keeping? Or have absolute authority over them? 37 Have they a ladder up to heaven by means of which they can overhear? Then let their listeners bring a clear proof. 38 Does God have daughters while you have sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are overburdened by a debt? 40 Do they possess knowledge of the unseen, so that they can write it down? 41 Do they design evil plans? The disbelievers themselves will be snared by their evil plots. 42 Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him) 43 Even if they were to see a part of the heavens falling down upon them, they would say, "It is only dense cloud". 44 Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken, 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 Surely a chastisement awaits the wrong-doers even before the coming of that Day; but most of them do not know. 47 Await the judgement of your Lord, for you are always before Our eyes, and glorify your Lord with praises when you rise, 48 and glorify Him after the setting of the stars. 49
