The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
