The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Romans have been defeated (by the Persians) 2 in the neighbouring land; but after their defeat they shall gain victory 3 Within a few years. With Allah is the Decision, in the past and in the Future: on that Day shall the Believers rejoice- 4 In the help of God. He helps whom He will; He is all-mighty, ever-merciful. 5 This is Allah's promise; and Allah faileth not His promise. Yet most men know not. 6 They know the outward of this world's life, but of the hereafter they are absolutely heedless. 7 Do they not think for themselves that God did not create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them without reason and a determined purpose? But many men reject the meeting with their Lord. 8 What, have they never journeyed in the land and seen what was the end of those before them? They were stronger in might than themselves, and they plowed the land and cultivated it more than they themselves have cultivated it. And to them, their Messengers came with clear signs, and Allah did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves. 9 And once again: evil is bound to be the end of those who do evil by giving the lie to God's messages and deriding them. 10
