۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 Are we not then to die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
