The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
