The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
