The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
