Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
