The chiefs of Firon's people said: most surely this is an enchanter possessed of knowledge: 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 to bring thee every cunning sorcerer.' 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and asked, "Shall we have a reward, if we should prevail?" 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 The magicians asked Moses, "Will you throw your staff first or shall we?" 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 Then We revealed to Moses: 'Now, throw down your staff' And thereupon it swallowed up their false invention. 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves). 120 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,- 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Firaun, “You have accepted faith in Him before I gave you permission! This is indeed a grand conspiracy you have plotted in the city, in order to expel its people from it; so now you will come to know!” 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They replied, "We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 You would punish us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they were shown to us. Our Lord, pour patience upon us, and cause us to die in a state of submission to You." 126
