Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
No! By the moon 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 Warn the men. 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 running away from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
