The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and his brightness, 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory; 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 And [by] the earth and He who spread it 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 and imbued it with (the consciousness of) its evil and its piety: 8 He who purifies it will prosper, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they gave him the lie, and hamstrung the she-camel. So their Lord destroyed them for their crime and razed their city to the ground. 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
