The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those of the right hand. 38
