Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Nay, man will be evidence against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
