The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
