And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 Yet these say: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We created them not save with a purpose but most of them know not. 39 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all - 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42
