The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 by the House inhabited 4 By the roof elevated. 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
