The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 running in confusion towards the Summoning Voice; [and] those who [now] deny the truth will exclaim, "Calamitous is this Day!" 8 ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
