He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attended to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
