The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
