The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 What is your opinion regarding him who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
