۞ It is God Who created you from a single soul and out of it made its spouse to bring it comfort. When he (man) engaged in carnal relations with her, she conceived a light burden which she had to carry. When the baby grew in her womb, they (husband and wife) both prayed to their Lord, "If You grant us a healthy son we shall certainly give you thanks." 189 But when they were given a healthy son, they started ascribing to other powers a share in what God had bestowed on them. But God is above what they ascribe to Him. 190 What! they associate (with Him) that which does not create any thing, while they are themselves created! 191 They have no power to help others. nor can they help themselves. 192 And if ye call them to the Guidance, they follow you not. Whether ye call them or are silent is all one for you. 193 Lo! those on whom ye call beside Allah are slaves like unto you. Call on them now, and let them answer you, if ye are truthful! 194 Do they have feet to walk on, or hands to hold with, or eyes to see and ears to hear with? Say to them: "Call your compeers, and work out a plot against me, and do not give me time. 195 Indeed, my protector is Allah, who has sent down the Book; and He is an ally to the righteous. 196 And those whom ye call upon besides Him cannot succour you nor themselves they can succour. 197 and if you pray unto them for guidance, they do not hear; and though thou mayest imagine that they behold thee, they do not see." 198 Use thou indulgence and enjoin seemliness and turn away from the ignorant. 199 And if there prompt thee a prompting from the Satan, seek refuge with Allah; verily He is Hearing, Knowing. 200 Indeed those who fear get alerted whenever a temptation from the devil troubles them, and they perceive immediately. 201 while their brethren ceaselessly try to drag them into error. 202 And when you bring them not a revelation they say: Why do you not forge it? Say: I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord; these are clear proofs from your Lord and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe. 203 When the Qur'an is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace: that ye may receive Mercy. 204 And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and in fear without being apparent in speech - in the mornings and the evenings. And do not be among the heedless. 205 [even] the ones [angels] who live in the presence of your Lord are not too proud to worship Him: they glorify Him and prostrate themselves before Him. ۩ 206
