He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And whereas he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing and joyful, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
