The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 where then are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
