The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
