In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
