۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
