The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
