The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
