The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And no trifle. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
