And remember thou Our bondman Ayyub, what time he cried unto his Lord: verily the Satan hath touched me with affliction and suffering. 41 [So he was told], "Strike [the ground] with your foot; this is a [spring for] a cool bath and drink." 42 And We bestowed upon him new offspring, doubling their number as an act of grace from Us, and as a reminder unto all who are endowed with insight. 43 And We said, “Take a broom in your hand and strike her with it, and do not break your vow”; We indeed found him patiently enduring; what an excellent bondman! He is indeed most inclined. 44 And remember thou Our bondmen, Ibrahim and Is-haq and Ya'qub, owners of might and insight. 45 Verily We exalted them in consideration of a sterling quality: their remembrance of the Abode of the Hereafter. 46 They are the chosen ones, the excellent in Our sight. 47 And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhul-Kifl, and all are among the outstanding. 48 This is a Reminder, and verily, for the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V. 2:2) is a good final return (Paradise), 49 Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are open to them, 50 Wherein, reclining, they call for plenteous fruit and cool drink (that is) therein. 51 ۞ And with them are the pure spouses, who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, of single age. 52 This is what you, [the righteous], are promised for the Day of Account. 53 Indeed this is Our sustenance, which will never end. 54 But the arrogant will have the worst return: 55 they will burn, in Hell, an evil resting place -- 56 This - so let them taste it - is scalding water and [foul] purulence. 57 and other similar to it, joined together. 58 Here is a troop rushing headlong with you! No welcome for them! truly, they shall burn in the Fire! 59 They say: Nay, but you (misleaders), for you there is no word of welcome. Ye prepared this for us (by your misleading). Now hapless is the plight. 60 They will say: “Our Lord, give twofold punishment in the Fire to him who has led us to this.” 61 But why is it that we cannot see men whom we had considered as wicked 62 [and] whom we made the target of our derision? Or are they here, and our eyes have missed them?" 63 Surely that is true -- the disputing of the inhabitants of the Fire. 64
